ERLANGER, KY (FOX19) – United Dairy Farmers may be best known for running stores and making ice cream, but they will soon be operating the largest cold storage warehouse in the Tri-State.
A UDF subsidiary called Cold Chain Integrity opened a 114 thousand foot expansion to an
existing UDF warehouse in Erlanger in 2007, and is adding another 100 thousand square feet. They will also add 40 jobs. This will bring the total building to 300 thousand square feet.
They describe this as a “best-in-class” warehouse. One part of the expanded facility already
has a pharmaceutical company as a client. That area will be a specialized ultra-low temperature room with duplicate refrigeration and power equipment to make sure the room never warms up.
UDF says there is a lot of demand for cold storage in the food service, flavoring industry
and pharmaceutical industries in Northern Kentucky.
The project is being built by the Tippman Group of Fort Wayne, which built the first phase
of the expansion, and which specializes in building this kind of facility.
The original warehouse was built in the 90’s.
The jobs will be added gradually, and will be filled through UDF’s dedicated jobs website, www.udfhiring.com. UDF now employs about 21 hundred people company-wide.
